Our Services
Having studied and lived abroad for almost three decades, I am especially qualified to offer mental health support for individuals living outside of their country of origin. Further, having worked with international students, expatriates, refugees and asylum seekers etc. I have experiential knowledge of loss of home, cultural displacement, loss of identity, nostalgic disorientation, and other specific topics, such as, being in an interracial relationship.
I offer an evidence-based scientific approach, that is psychologically integrated, trauma-informed and trauma-focussed, whilst acknowledging the hurdles that separation from home, family, and integrating into a new culture and society can potentially present.
Online Diaspora Psychotherapy is delivered virtually through Zoom, Chat or Voice calls.
Individual Psychotherapy consists of one-on-one psychotherapy sessions, preferably once weekly, and recommended for a total of 8- 10 sessions.
An initial assessment to gain insight into your unique psychological needs will entail getting a detailed background of your situation, followed by a collaborative effort to identify and agree on therapy goals, treatment plan, therapy modality and timeframe.
A psychotherapy package is offered upon initial assessment and contains more details and additional relevant information you may require.
Walk & Talk Therapy is based on the principles of Ecopsychology, with a focus on the link between Ecology and Psychology.
Initial assessment takes place in-house, after which Therapy is offered outdoors, once weekly at an agreed upon venue, such as a public park.
Walk & Talk Therapy aims to promote an emotional bond between nature and human beings, which is scientifically proven to help in building resilience.
Group Psychotherapy aims to provide a safe space to share your experiences and struggles with others presenting with similar problems or challenges.
The aim is to facilitate and encourage giving and receiving support with the goal of mapping a route to finding voice, increasing empowerment, and building individual and collective resilience through advocacy and other activities.
Supervision is an indispensable part of continuing professional development. Supervision enables individual reflection and a review of practice by examining “What went well” or “Not so well”, with a focus on where improvements and adjustments can be made.
Supervision and Consultation is available to fellow practitioners, mental health institutions and other corporations.
